Rex Hill Winery & Tasting Room
This project was an intricate and fast-tracked design-build initiative aimed at revitalizing the Rex Hill Tasting room while significantly enhancing its wine tasting capabilities. The new addition features a striking glass jewel box design, offering unobstructed 270-degree views through floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Notably, half of this wall comprises an operable sliding glass door system that opens fully at the corner, seamlessly connecting the interior space to the expansive concrete patio. The timber & steel framed roof is supported by an intricately crafted series of composite steel beams with a custom fluted steel brace frame which defines the “eroding” southwest corner of the tasting room.
The entire process, from the initial stages of design to the completion of construction, was accomplished within a remarkably brief span of 14 months. This swift timeline is particularly noteworthy considering that a conventional project delivery method for a project of similar complexity would typically require over 22 months to complete. This accelerated schedule not only underscores the efficiency and coordination of the design-build approach but also highlights the team's capability to execute intricate designs swiftly without compromising on quality or detail.
